Martial Arts in Norway

Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing and karate — how to train while you're in Norway.

How Clubs Work

  • Club-based: most martial arts in Norway are organized as clubs ("klubb") with semester or annual fees rather than monthly gym-style memberships.
  • Free trial: nearly every club offers a free trial class ("gratis prøvetime") — just contact them in advance.
  • English-friendly: instructors in most cities speak English, and many classes are mixed-language. International students and expats are common.
  • Visitors: for short stays, many clubs let you pay a drop-in fee (usually NOK 100–150) or a visitor week.

Typical Fees

Typical fees as of 2025 — always check the club's own website.

  • Club membership: roughly NOK 1,500–3,000 per semester or year depending on the club and style
  • Drop-in (visitors): NOK 100–150 per session at most clubs
  • Gear: most clubs lend gloves and equipment for beginners; you buy your own once you commit

Find a Club

Gymlink lists kampsport clubs across Norway — including Oksa Muay Thai in Kristiansand (Elvegata, city centre), one of the region's best-known thaiboksing clubs with beginner classes and continuous intake.
